Let's Fill the Skies with Music
10 Reason To Join Music Monday
- Administrators Feel Good. Music Monday is a wonderful way to get your administrators involved. They appreciate the attention their schools, their teachers and their students receive through the media and the involvement of the community. It’s a great way to make the whole school ambassadors for music education.
- Fun for the Students and Teachers. Kids love the idea of performing with their peers across the country. They love the song, and Music Monday inspires more song and performance, art and dance in many communities. What a great way to showcase what the arts do for young people.
- Involve Parents. Parents are key to the strength of your music program. Get them involved in a very positive way with Music Monday – not just as observers or organizers, but also as participants. They can learn the song from their kids; invite them to bring their guitars or own instruments. A parent, who experiences the joy of making music with their kids, will be a valuable supporter of your program.
Media Attention for Music Education. We’re partnering with CBC Radio! Wow! This means that music education will be in the media in a way that it has never been before. National and local programs will be reflecting events, creating discussion, and sharing stories about the importance of music education to our kids – right across the country. They want to know about your events, so new this year is an opportunity to provide more details about your Music Monday plans on our Events Listing page. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the focus of an inspiring radio documentary! - Engage Policy Makers. Last year, we had four provincial education ministers involved in Music Monday events across Canada. Already, the office of the Ontario Education Minister has advised us of her enthusiastic participation again this year. Let’s provide an opportunity to showcase the positive to our policy-makers. We can build from that.
- Proactive Positive Advocacy. Music Monday celebrates all the important values music education provides to our children – community, self-esteem, diversity and more. It allows us to deliver key messages to our communities and the media in a consistent, united effort across the country. You can find everything you need about attracting media, what your key messages should be and more in the promotion toolkit on the Music Monday website.
- Everyone Can Participate. Schools from communities in every corner of the country participate in Music Monday. From the tiny Métis-Cree community of Cole Bay, Saskatchewan to Salt Spring Island, B.C., from Yellowknife, NWT to Paradise, Nfld, everyone can add their voice to this powerful demonstration for the love of music in our schools. We are united in an incredible way.
